Text for new ensemble piece - "Sacred Shadows"

Rehearsed today with the as-yet-unnamed ensemble (see below). One of the pieces we worked on was a new composition of mine - "Sacred Shadows". The text for this piece follows...

Hum - I feel your voice inside of me
Sing - I feel the words upon your lips
Feel my beating heart inside of you
Feel a spell between our fingertips

There is something in the air tonight
There was something in the light today
A way to navigate Sacred Shadows
We are boats in the moonlit sea

We are boats in the moonlit sea
We track the stars
We count the hours
From shore to shore
Compass to pole
Holy night
Wrap us in love
And make us ready
For the holy day

herMajesty plays at 1-year anniversary of Friction

Friction, a party thrown by the good people of Crackers United, stays on the cutting edge of New York's live music scene and herMajesty played the one-year anniversary of this event!

"herMajesty stepped things up with an amazingly tight performance. John’s blissful voice echoed perfectly over Jerome’s guitar riffs. They captivated the audience with their dreamy Brit-pop sound."

As Yet Un-named Ensemble In The Works

I'm excited to say that I've got a new ensemble in the works. This is a joint effort between myself and Deadra Hart (vocals), Fred Kennedy (drums) and Bob Gingery (bass). It looks like we will soon be joined by Elena Park (violin) and Jessica Schmitz (flute). For my part, I will be exploring in my compositions the intersection of Jazz and contemporary classical or "new" music. This means, in addition to jazz or "head" arrangments, trying to incorporate new and creative ways of notating improvisational frameworks and investigating ways of allowing such frameworks to co-exist with more traditionally notated music. I'm excited about where this all may lead and plan to fully document the group's progress.
